Running CDXStreamer on Windows Vista
Windows Vista introduces new security features and protection that affect the way the CDXStreamer handles updates.
After installing the application in Excel 2007 you would start CDXStreamer by pressing the "Add-ins" menu item as in Figure 1
In Vista, when you press the "CDXStreamer" toolbar button the following dialog may appear (Figure 2)
Press "No" and then open the directory C:\Program Files\CDXStreamer as in Figure 3. Then right click on the file
CDXStreamer.LOADER and select "Run As Administrator". If Vista prompts you to allow the Loader file to run choose "Continue".
The application should then proceed to automatically download new assemblies. Once completed it will restart Excel with the latest CDXStreamer program.
Should you choose to run the update (by pressing Yes in Figure 2) without assigning administrative privileges the following error message will appear.
Press no and then change the administrative privileges as described above.
If you still have problems make sure that your firewall is set to allow the CDXStreamer application. The files CDXStreamer.LOADER
and CDXStreamer.SharedAddInPatch should be allowed access. The assemblies are downloaded using port 443.
As an example figures 5 shows the settings for Windows One Care security software by Microsoft. Most firewalls will automatically
prompt you to allow these programs to connect to the Internet.
